Breaking: Many Children Feared Dead, Others Trapped As Three-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos


Tragedy struck this morning around 10am when a three-storey building collapsed at Itafaji area of Lagos Island.

According to Channels TV, the structure is a residential building with several apartments and a primary school is said to be located on the top floor of the building with pupils feared dead and others trapped.


A resident of the area, Prince Adams said no fewer than 10 pupils had been removed from the rubble so far.

“It is terrible. Parents are crying. I can’t withstand the horrible sight,” he added. People were heard crying in the background.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Kehinde Adebayo, confirmed the collapse, adding that emergency officials were already on ground.

Many pupils dead, over 100 trapped as school building collapses in Lagos. As at the time of filing this report, many students are being rushed to the General hospital, Marina, while parents are trooping there to search for their children. It’s gathered that over 100 students are currently still trapped and being dug out.
