Nigeria president, Muhammadu Buhari has named Abdulrasheed Bawa as new EFCC Chairman. The president on tuesday forwarded his name to the Nigeria Senate for confirmation.
In a letter addressed to the Senate president, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, the president said he was acting in accordance with Paragragh 2(3) of part 1, CAP E1 of EFCC Act 2004.
Bawa, 40 who holds a B.Sc in Economics and a Master in International Affairs and Diplomacy is a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in Advance Fee Fraud cases , official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering and economic crimes.
Recall that Abdulrasheed Bawa was once arrested by former EFCC boss, Magu for oil theft and the case was swept under the carpet.
However Many Nigerians on social media have condemned the appointment and accused the Nigeria president of being a bigot who gives important political offices to only the Northerners and those with criminal records.
