Godwin Obaseki Of APC Declares Winner Of Edo State Governorship Election


The candidate of the All People's Congress, Godwin Obaseki has been declared the winner of the just concluded Edo State Gove‎rnorship Election which was held yesterday in Edo State of Nigeria.

Obaseki who got a total vote of 319, 483 won 13 LGAs out of the 18 LGAs of the State while the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Ize-Iyamu Andrew came out second with a total vote of 253,173 and won 5 LGAs.

The resident electorial commissioner, Prof. Sam Kayode Olumekun gave the total numbers of registered votes as 1,900,223, total votes cast 613,244, valid votes 582,299 and rejected votes 30,945.

AA - 155 votes
ACD - 1,350 votes
ACPN - 3,184‎ votes
APGA - 876 votes
CPC - 226 votes
ID - 99 votes
COWA - 75 votes
Labour Party - 182 votes
NPPP - 125 votes
NCP - 294 votes
NNPP - 188 votes
PDC - 1,289 votes
PDP - 253,173 votes
PPA - 855 votes
PPN - 112 votes
SDP - 72 votes
UPP - 431 votes
YDP - 200 votes

While signing the announced results, the representative of the People's Democratic Party and YDP stood to reject and append their signatures on the ground that they were not satisfied with the election results.‎

‎Though the election was peaceful but there were however reports of inducement as both APC and PDP agents were publicly exchanging money for votes with security men on standby.
