UK Prime Minister arrives Lagos Airport (photos)


The British Prime Minister, Theresa May arrived the presidential wing of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 4.20pm amid tight security and red carpet reception after she left the State House in Abuja.

Vanguard reports that May arrived the airport aboard Royal Air Force plane. This is just as security personnel deployed to strategic areas around the presidential wing prevented air reporters from gaining access to the wing.


The lounge had reportedly been the operating base of aviation reporters for more than 20 years before the late national security adviser to former President
Goodluck Jonathan , General Patrick Azazi, chased them out of the lounge citing “security reasons” in 2012 .

The major road linking the local wing of the airport to the international section was adored, at interval, with Nigeria and the British flags and security personnel , especially the conventional police deployed at different locations.

While in Lagos, the prime minister visited Surulere, a Lagos community, to further show her support for the campaign against human trafficking.


Meanwhile, before her departure from Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari had reportedly told the prime minister that his administration is committed to conducting a free and fair election in 2019.

In a statement signed by Femi Adeshina who is the special adviser to the president on media and publicity on Wednesday, August 29, President Buhari also said he was happy with the recent performance of his party, the All Progressives Congress ( APC ).

President Buhari said he has focused on infrastructural development despite low earnings.
