BREAKING NEWS: Ex-Nigerian Head of State Is Dead

Nigeria’s Ninth Head of State, Chief Ernest Shonekan, has been reported dead. He died today 23rd October 2018 and was aged 82.

A British-trained Nigerian lawyer, industrialist, politician and traditional chieftain, Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan was appointed interim Head of State by a hurriedly-departing Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, on August 26, 1993.

His reign was, however, cut short by late dictator, General Sani Abacha, who seized power on November 17, 1993.

Reacting to the news, a former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode described him as a great man and a worthy son.
