The State Fire Service when contacted complained of lack of water.

It was not until 11 am that fire fighters from NDPHC arrived the scene but had no chemical in their water. They called for a backup from their Delta State counterpart. They were later joined by UBTH and NNPC fire service but all to no avail.

At about 12:30 pm Men of the Nigerian Army School of Transport Fire Service and Air Maritime Group Fire Service arrived the scene. The Delta State Fire Service from Warri also arrived the scene to join effort with those already on ground.

It was through a joint effort the fire was finally put out at about 2pm.

Efforts to obtain comment from the PRO of the Benin Transmission Company of Nigeria, Mr Rufus Imafidon didnt yield any result as he declined comment when a call was put across to him. Newsmen were also prevented from gaining access to the premises of the Transmission Station.
