Super Eagles Boycott Training In Protest Over Unpaid Bonus

Nigeria's preparation for Wednesday's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match with Guinea yesterday suffered a setback as a bonus row took the centre stage.

The Super Eagles complained about their unpaid bills. The Captain of the team, Ahmed Musa also failed to show up for Tuesday's pre-match conference.

"The players showed solidarity and had to stay back for an important meeting", said Coach Rohr, when quizzed by the media.

Unpaid bonuses are not new in Nigeria Football. First it was the Nigeria U20 team who embarked on a sit-in protest and refused to leave Poland after their elimination from the FIFA U20 World Cup.

Recently, the Nigeria's female senior national team which was kicked out of the Women's World Cup by Germany in France declined to leave their hotel until all outstanding match bonuses were paid.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hoping to prevent a strike before the match in Egypt on Wednesday.
