A Nigerian Customs Officer, Nura Dalhatu from Katsina state has been arrested for promoting himself to the rank of Comptroller General of Customs.
According to the report, Dalhatu promoted himself to the Rank of Comptroller General of Customs & visited Col. Hameed Ali in his office to take over as the new CGC as directed by the president."
“As he came in, officers were saluting him because he was wearing that rank,” a custom officer said.
It was also reported that sometime in May, he had posted on Facebook that he had been directed by the President to take over from Hameed Ali.
And today when his colleagues saw him in the new rank, they thought indeed he has been promoted as directed by the president.
He went inside the CG’s office, sat in the waiting room, expecting the CG to handover to him.”
Authorities were however alerted and he was arrested by the security agents.
