One of the trending topics this morning on twitterNG is "UK Parliament" and "Yakubu Gowon". This is because the UK Parliament had a debate yesterday about the #ENDSARS protests and their plan to sanction the government for the human rights violations that occurred during the end sars protests.
During the debate, a member of the UK Parliament made some revelations about the former head of state of the country, General Yakubu Gowon. He revealed that General Yakubu Gowon left Nigeria with half of Central Bank and moved to London. This revelation has caused Nigerians to question whether he is truly a hero like our history portrays him to be.
This is a very serious revelation that is certainly not good news for Nigeria as a whole. We are still feeling the effect of the Abacha loot, but if these revelations are true, then this would really be something to worry about.
Currently, Yakubu Gowon is seen by many as one of the holier leaders we've ever had, except now, people are beginning to have serious doubts.
